The main objective of this project is to obtain a new variety of bioactive and antibacterial coatings, based on HAP-SiC and HAP-TiO2. The novel coatings types are aimed to enhance the bioactivity, mechanical, tribological, anticorrosive and antibacterial properties of HAP, as well as to accelerate osseointegration and to improve bone bonding ability, by: · addition of elements such as SiC and TiO2 in order to obtain HAP-SiC and HAP-TiO2 bioactive coatings for orthopaedic and dental applications, respectively. It is expected that such a structure would reveal an optimal combination of the coating microhardness, adhesion, residual stress, toughness, friction, corrosion-wear resistance and biocompatibility; · addition of Mg, Ag and TiO2 to a basic HAP-SiC structure used for orthopedic implants, in order to enhance the osseointegration, antibacterial and bioactivity properties of the Ti6Al4V alloy; · addition of Mg, Ag and SiC to a basic HAP- TiO2 structure used for dental implants, in order to enhance the osseointegration and antibacterial properties of the pure Ti . The coating deposition will be done by magnetron sputtering. |
